Can Anyone Learn to Channel

Or Is It a Gift You’re Born With?

9 Stages of

Spiritual Awakening

One of the questions I hear most often is:

“Can anyone learn to channel, or do you have to be born with the gift?”

My answer is simple:

I believe the capacity to receive Guidance is far more natural than most people realize.

Not everyone will experience it in the same way. Not everyone will want to develop it to the same degree. And not everyone is meant to become a professional channel.

But the ability to become more receptive, more intuitive, more discerning, and more conscious of the way Guidance moves through you can absolutely be developed.

In fact, you may already be receiving far more than you think.

You May Already Be Receiving

Many people imagine channeling as something dramatic.

A booming voice.

A supernatural experience.

A complete loss of awareness while another presence speaks through you.

Those experiences can happen, but they are not the only form of channeling. Guidance is often much quieter.

It can arrive as:

A sudden knowing you cannot logically explain

A word or phrase that seems to drop into your awareness

An image in your mind

A physical sensation or energetic feeling

A strong inner nudge

A dream that stays with you

A message that seems to come through while journaling

A sense of clarity that arrives before your mind has time to analyze it

The problem is that most of us have been trained to dismiss these experiences. We say:

"That was probably just me." or "I’m imagining it."

And over time, we learn to distrust the very language through which Guidance may already be speaking.

Natural Ability and Developed Ability Are Not the Same Thing

Some people seem to enter the world with their intuitive senses wide open. They may see, hear, feel, or know things from childhood. Others discover their sensitivity much later. Sometimes it opens during a major life transition.

A loss. A spiritual awakening. Motherhood. A relationship ending. Or, many times durig or after a severe health crisis. Often, there's a point in life when the noise begins to quiet and something deeper becomes easier to hear.

Natural Ability is not the same thing as developed ability

Think about music. Someone may be born with a beautiful ear for music, but that does not automatically make them a skilled musician. They still learn. They practice. They develop technique. They become familiar with their instrument. They learn what is noise and what is music. Intuitive and channeling development is very similar.

Your sensitivity may be the starting point.

Channeling Is a Relationship.

This is one of the most important things I teach. Channeling is not simply about “getting messages.”

It is about developing a relationship with Guidance. And relationships deepen through consistency.

Through showing up. Through listening. Through learning the language. Through recognizing what feels true and what does not.

Over time, you begin to notice patterns. You may discover that Guidance often comes to you through images.

Or through a quiet sentence that seems to appear fully formed. Perhaps your body responds first. Maybe you simply know something before you understand how you know it. This is your intuitive language.

And part of becoming a more conscious channel is learning how your natural intuitive language works.

The Bigger Challenge Usually Isn’t Receiving

This surprises many people. The greatest challenge is often not learning how to receive Guidance.

It is learning how to trust what you receive. A message comes through. For one brief moment, there is clarity.

Then the mind arrives.

Was that really Guidance?

What if I’m wrong?

What if I made that up?

Should I ask someone else?

Maybe I need another sign.

This is why discernment is such an important part of channeling development. We are not trying to blindly believe every thought, feeling, or impression that enters our awareness. We are learning to distinguish between Guidance and fear. Guidance and desire. Guidance and projection. Guidance and the mind trying desperately to create certainty. That takes practice. But it can be learned.

You Do Not Have to Become Someone Else

Sometimes people believe that becoming a channel means becoming more mystical, more spiritual, or somehow less human. I believe the opposite.

The deeper this work becomes, the more grounded it should make you. Guidance is not only for extraordinary spiritual moments. It is there when you are making a difficult decision. Having a conversation. Beginning something new. Ending something that is complete. Navigating uncertainty. Creating. Parenting. Working. Resting. Living.

The real transformation is not that you spend your life waiting for messages. It is that you begin moving through your life with a deeper relationship to your own inner knowing.

So, Can Anyone Learn to Channel?

I believe most people can learn to become more conscious receivers of Guidance. How that unfolds will be different for each person.

Some will feel.

Some will see.

Some will hear.

Some will know.

Some will experience subtle impressions.

Others may develop a much deeper channeling practice.

The point is not to compare your experience to anyone else’s. The point is to discover what is already trying to open through you. The real question is not: “Do I have psychic gifts?”

Perhaps the better question is: “Am I willing to develop the relationship so I can know my true gift and relationship to G-D?”

And if you are, you may discover that what you have been searching for has been quietly speaking to you all along.

A spiritual awakening is a profound initiation, often sudden and unexpected, where we awaken to previously hidden or unknown aspects of our life, world, and universe. Most people live in a kind of amnesia, believing the world is entirely physical and governed solely by matter, with no spiritual side at all.

A spiritual awakening occurs when the mind opens and becomes aware of something "more" beyond the mundane. This awakening typically sparks a quest for learning, leading to a ravenous need to read and explore spiritual and metaphysical subjects. This journey is nearly always pleasant and rewarding, with many avenues to explore and teachers to learn from.

The topic of spiritual awakening is broad, so let's break it down into the various stages one goes through on this journey of the soul. These stages can also serve as signs that you are experiencing an awakening.

  1. The Wake-Up Call

A sudden realization that there is more to life than the physical world. This can be triggered by a significant life event, a personal crisis, or a moment of clarity.

  1. The Search for Meaning

An intense curiosity about the nature of reality and a desire to understand spiritual concepts. This stage often involves reading books, attending workshops, and exploring different spiritual traditions.

  1. Self-Discovery

A period of introspection where you begin to uncover your true self, stripping away societal conditioning and false beliefs. This stage can be both exhilarating and challenging as you confront your inner truths.

  1. The Dark Night of the Soul

A phase of deep inner turmoil and confusion, where old beliefs and identities crumble. This can feel like a spiritual or existential crisis but is a necessary part of the awakening process.

  1. Integration

Starting to integrate new insights and wisdom into your daily life. You begin to live more authentically, aligning your actions with your spiritual values.

  1. Synchronicity and Guidance

Experiencing meaningful coincidences and feeling guided by a higher power. You become more attuned to the signs and messages from the universe.

  1. Connection to All

A deep sense of interconnectedness with all life. You feel a strong bond with nature, other people, and the cosmos, understanding that everything is part of a greater whole.

  1. Living Your Purpose

Feeling a strong sense of purpose and direction in your life. You start to contribute to the world in meaningful ways, using your unique talents and gifts.

  1. Enlightenment

Achieving a state of inner peace, wisdom, and compassion. You live in harmony with yourself and the universe, fully awakened to your true nature.

Conclusion

These stages are not always linear and can be experienced in different orders or revisited multiple times. Spiritual awakening is a deeply personal journey, unique to each individual. Recognizing these stages can help you understand where you are on your path and provide reassurance that you are not alone in your experiences. Embrace the journey and allow yourself to grow and evolve spiritually.
